Material Encounters Poetry Workshop with Jameela f. dallis, ph.d.

  • Peel Gallery 708 West Rosemary Street Carrboro, NC, 27510 United States (map)

Join Material Encounters curator Jameela F. Dallis to compose ekphrastic poems inspired by works by Harriet Hoover, Celia Gray, and Jean Gray Mohs.

Ekphrasis means description in Greek, and these poems are often vivid descriptions of artworks.

In this workshop, Jameela will take an intuitive yet step-by-step approach that facilitates the creation of texture-rich poems. Discussion and sharing are encouraged and no experience writing poetry is necessary.

Bring a journal and your favorite pen. (Or find a new one at the shop!) For ages 15+.

Sunday, March 17, 11 am - 12:30 pm ET

MAX CAPACITY: 15 PEOPLE

Cost: Sliding Scale ($15-$25)
